Dr. Connie Hebert, nationally acclaimed teacher of teachers, reading specialist, and motivational speaker, is pleased
to announce the upcoming release of her book, The Teachable Minute: The Secret to Raising Smart &
Appreciative Kids on October 8, 2013 (Morgan James Publishers/NYC). The book will be available at Barnes &
Noble Bookstores nationwide, all online booksellers, and at http://www.theteachableminute.com.
THE TEACHABLE MINUTE is a golden opportunity to teach kids something, anywhere, FAST. It can be caught
at any time, in common places, where we all live and go. It appears in a car, at the mall, around the kitchen table, at
the post office, in the yard, on a plane, in an elevator, at the beach, on the subway, in a rocking chair, at the park, in
the bathtub, and anywhere else you can think of. ALL kids are naturally curious. ALL kids want attention.
“Everywhere we go, we can find kids who are watching adults who are engaging with devices at all hours of the day
and night—using cell phones, responding to text messages, surfing the web, responding to email, and watching a lot
of television. This concern raised an important question for me: How can we strike a BALANCE between engaging
with devices and interacting with kids?”—Dr. Connie Hebert
Dr. Hebert’s goal is to help parents become experts at catching THE TEACHABLE MINUTE so they can interact
with kids of all ages, anytime and anywhere. The simple format of the book makes it quick and easy to learn. There
are hundreds of ideas for what to show, ask, and teach younger and older kids in 77 common places!
Dr. Connie Hebert has presented seminars and keynote addresses in 47 states, and at conferences sponsored by IRA,
ASCD, NAESP, and RRCNA. Her other books include Catch a Falling Reader, Catch a Falling Writer, and Catch
a Falling Teacher.
Kids caught in TX & NM
What a great feeling it is to help teachers learn and grow. I will never ever get tired of doing that. I am using all that I learned along this 35 year journey in education to help others so that they will be empowered with knowledge, confidence, and inspiration. We all need that…teachers and parents, especially.
So what did I learn in Houston, Texas and Socorro, New Mexico this week? I learned that even when I am tired, drained, and in pain from a spider bite, I can discipline myself to rise above it all in order to get the job done.
